Natuklasan umano ng mga awtoridad na may pinagawang five-floor basement si dating Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co sa Forbes Park para paglagyan diumano ng mga pera niya.
Ayon sa naging panayam ng ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) kay Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Jonvic Remulla noong Lunes, Disyembre 22, sinabi niyang nakausap daw nila ang mga nagtrabaho sa nasabing basement ni Co at hindi raw iyon para sa mga sasakyan kundi para paglagyan umano ng pera.
“That house has a five-floor basement. We talked to the workers na it’s not for cars… money,” pagsisimula niya.
Paliwanag pa niya, “Because fire goes upwards so all the money was put below.”

Ani Remulla, imposible raw na ma-deposit ni Co ang mga perang pagmamay-ari niya sa mga bangko sa Pilipinas kaya hindi malayong ilagay niya ito sa nasabing basement.
“Because of the money that he had, there is no way he can deposit it in Philippine banks. So they would have kept it in the basements that was the plan,” saad niya.
Dagdag pa niya, “Or we see no other rational reason for you to put five floors of basement in Forbes Park.”
Pagpapatuloy ni Remulla, ipinaliwanag din daw ng mga eksperto na laging pataas ang punta ng apoy tuwing may sunog at sinigurado raw na waterproof ang limang palapag na basement sa nasabing property ni Co sa Forbes Park.
“To the rational of fire experts, they see that because fire goes upwards. They made it waterproof and they made it safe,” pagbabahagi niya.
Samantala, iniimbestigahan na rin daw umano ng Office of the Ombudsman ang nasabing basement ni Co.
“It is now on the Ombudsman investigation. They are not building but it will be subject to civil furniture also,” pagtatapos pa niya.
