Ipinangalan kay Dr. Jose Rizal ang intersection sa New York City, USA, bilang pagkilala sa malaking populasyon ng Filipino community sa distrito. 

Ang nasabing co-naming sa Woodside Avenue at 58th Street sa New York ay inisyatiba ni Steven Raga, ang kauna-unahang Filipino-American na naupo sa New York State Assembly at New York City Council Member Julie Won. 

“It’s an honor to co-name an intersection in Woodside after Dr. José P. Rizal, the national hero for Filipinos in my district and beyond. This co-naming speaks to our ethos as a district of immigrants and honors the contributions and culture of our neighbors in the Filipino diaspora,” saad ni Won sa social media niya. 

“Thank you to Assembly member Steven Raga for your partnership in cementing Dr. Rizal’s legacy in Woodside,” dagdag pa niya sa pagkilala sa naging legasiya ng pambansang bayani.

Ang co-naming ceremony ay dinaluhan din ng ilang lokal na residente, mga miyembro ng Knights of Rizal, at ni Philippine Consul General Senen Mangalile. 

“A special thank you to Counsel General Senen Mangalile, the Knights of Rizal, and our neighbors for celebrating with us!” pagpapasalamat ni Won. 

Matatagpuan sa Woodside Queens ang lugar na  “Little Manila,” dahil sa tinatayang 90,000 mga Pinoy na naninirahan dito at ilang Filipino restaurants, negosyo, at mga tindahan.
