Pormal na naglabas ng pahayag ang Department of Foreign Affair (DFA) na kinakailangan muna nilang makatanggap ng utos ng Korte bago nila kanselahin ang pasaporte ni dating Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co.
Ayon ito sa isinapubliko nilang pahayag sa kanilang Facebook page nitong Miyerkules, Disyembre 3, kung saan sinabi nilang tapat sila para isulong ang hustisya sa pamamagitan ng legal na proseso.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs is always committed to assist in the pursuit of justice by fully complying with all lawful processes,” pagsisimula nila.

Pagpapatuloy pa ng DFA, magkakaroon lamang sila ng awtoridad na kanselahin ang pasaporte ni Co kung ipag-uutos ito ng Korte.
“Under the New Passport Law, the DFA is authorized to cancel the passport of former Congressman Zaldy Co only upon receipt of a court order,” anila.
Dagdag pa nila, “Once such court order is received, the DFA will carry out its mandate.”
Samantala, nilinaw rin ng DFA na ayon ang desisyon nila sa legal na pamantayan at hindi dahil sa politikal na konsiderasyon.
“This process is governed by established legal criteria and is not subject to arbitrary or political consideration,” pagtatapos pa nila.
Kaugnay nito, matatandaang nagtutulungan na ang mga ahensya ng DFA, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Office of the Ombudsman (OM), at Department of Justice (DOJ) para mapabilis na ang pagtugis kay Co sa labas ng bansa.

“Meron naman [group effort]. It is a whole government approach to get Zaldy Co. The DFA, DILG, Ombudsman, DOJ are all working together in order to get a satisfying outcome in repatriation of Zaldy Co back to the Philippines,” saad ni DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla isinagawang press briefing ng Presidential Communication Office (PCO) noong Lunes, Disyembre 1, 2025.
Ani Remulla, dapat daw na ang DFA ang manguna sa pagtutulungan ng mga nasabing ahensya.
“To what those measures are, I cannot speak of it yet but I think when it comes to repatriation, the DFA should be the lead,” saad niya.
