Itinaas ni Pope Leo XIV ang Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of Santo Niño de Tondo bilang isang ganap na minor basilica.

Sa ibinahaging Facebook post ng Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of Santo Niño - Tondo Manila nitong Lunes, Nobyembre 24, ito raw ay isinagawa sa bisa ng isang decree noong Nobyembre 9, kasabay ang Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica sa Roma.

“The Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, has elevated the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of Santo Niño de Tondo to the rank of Minor Basilica, through a Decree dated November 9, 2025, the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome,” saad nila sa post.

Sa hiwalay namang Facebook post nito ring Lunes, Nobyembre 24, inilarawan nila ito bilang isang sandali ng “grace and history” para sa kanilang parish-community.

“A moment of grace and history for our parish-community. Today, November 24, at the Arsobispado de Manila, Rev. Fr. Carmelo Arada, Jr., Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Manila, formally handed over and presented the Papal Decree elevating the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of Santo Niño de Tondo to the dignity of a Minor Basilica,” anila.  

“The decree was received with deep joy and gratitude by Rev. Msgr. Geronimo F. Reyes, JCD, Rector and Parish Priest, on behalf of the clergy, religious, and faithful of the parish. This meaningful moment marks the official transmission of the Holy Father’s decree an important step in the journey toward our new title as a Minor Basilica,” dagdag pa nila. "As we give thanks to God for this blessing, we now look forward to the next chapter in this grace-filled milestone. The date of the Solemn Declaration of the Minor Basilica will be announced soon.”
