Muling dinipensahan ni Sen. Joel Villanueva ang sarili sa pagkakadawit sa flood-control anomalies ayon sa bagong rekomendasyong kaso ng Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) sa Office of the Ombudsman (OMB).
Ayon sa mga ulat, nagpadala si Villanueva ng pahayag mula sa isang text message nitong Miyerkules, Oktubre 29, 2025.
Ani Villanueva, pag-aaralan ng mga abogado niya ang umano’y naging batayan ng ICI at maghihintay sila sa aksyong isasagawa ng Ombudsman kaugnay rito,
“My lawyers will study the basis of my inclusion in the ICI’s referral. We will await the action of the Ombudsman and file our answer,” saad ni Villanueva.

Dagdag pa ng senador, makikita raw sa mga tala sa Senado na kontra na siya sa flood control projects noon pa man.
“Nevertheless, records of the Senate will show that I have been against flood control projects from the very beginning,” ‘ika ni Villanueva.
“I was the one who exposed and questioned these flood control projects that have not been implemented. Alcantara also consistently testified that I know nothing about the flood control projects,” paliwanag pa niya.
Ani Villanueva, mapapatunayan daw na inosente siya sa tamang panahon.
“All these, at the proper time, will prove my innocence,” pagtatapos pa ni Villanueva.
Matatandaang nauna nang irekomenda ng ICI na sampahan ng kasong plunder, bribery, at corruption complaints ng Ombudsman sina Villanueva, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, at dating Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co at iba pa nito ring Miyerkules.

“These persons has possibly committed direct or indirect bribery and corruption of public officials under Articles 210, 211, and 212 of the Revised Penal Code, corruption of officers under section 3B and 3E of Republic Act 3019, plunder as defined and penalized under section 2 of Republic Act 7080,” ayon kay ICI Chairperson retired Supreme Court (SC) associate justice Andres Reyes Jr.
Kaugnay nito, iginiit na rin ni Villanueva noon sa mga kapuwa miyembro ng "Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church" na wala siyang kinalaman sa maanomalyang flood control projects, sa kanilang 47th anniversary noong Oktubre 18, sa Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park, Maynila.
