Personal nang ipinasa ni Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim ang malyete ng chairmanship kay Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. para sa ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Summits and Related Summits 2026, nitong Martes, Oktubre 28.
“It has been a privilege to host your majesty and leaders here in Kuala Lumpur, through these intense and illuminating exchanges,” saad ni Ibrahim sa kaniyang talumpati sa pagtatapos ng ika-47 ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings.
Dito ay nagbigay-pugay ang Punong Ministro sa kooperasyon ng bawat miyembro ng ASEAN, ang kanilang dialogue partners, at ang ASEAN Secretariat na si Dr. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn.
Sa kaniyang talumpati ay opisyal nang inanunsyo ni Ibrahim ang pormal na pagpapasa ng ASEAN chairmanship sa Pilipinas para sa 2026.

“On the first day of 2026, ASEAN will begin a new chapter. This evening, it is my honor to mark that transition and to ceremonially hand over the chairmanship to the Republic of the Philippines,” paga-anunsyo ng Punong Ministro.
“To my friend, Bongbong, good luck! President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., as you assume this responsibility, I have every confidence that under your steady hand, ASEAN will continue to act with clarity, composure, and that warmth and poise for which the Filipino people are known,” dagdag pa niya.
Sa pagtanggap naman ni PBBM ng malyeta na sumisimbolo ng chairmanship para sa ASEAN Summit 2026, tiniyak niya na patuloy pagtitibayin ng Pilipinas ang kapayapaan, kaunlaran, at pagyabong ng mga mamamayan.
“The Philippines will continue to fortify our peace and security anchors, strengthen our prosperity corridors, and advance people empowerment,” pagtitiyak ng Pangulo.
“These main priorities will serve as our compass, guiding ASEAN towards a future where peace, prosperity, and people, remain at the heart of all that we say, and all that we do,” dagdag pa niya.
