Pumanaw na ang 54-anyos na radio journalist na si Noel Bellen Samar na pinagbabaril habang nagmamaneho siya ng kaniyang motorsiklo sa Maharlika Highway in Guinobatan, Albay noong Lunes, Oktubre 20.
Ayon sa inilabas na pahayag ni Executive Director Jose Torres Jr., ng Presidential Task Force for Media Security (PTFOMS), kinumpirma niya ang pagpanaw ni Samar at nagpaabot siia ng pakikiramay sa pamilyang naiwan ng radio journalist.
“The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS) extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Noel Bellen Samar, who passed away at approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, following a medical procedure,” panimula niya.

Sinigurado naman ni Torres na ipagpapatuloy nila ang kanilang imbestigasyon sa naturang insidente at nakikipag-ugnayan na umano sila sa Philippine National Police (PNP) upang mabigyan ng hustisya ang pagkamatay ni Samar.
“We assure the public that a thorough investigation is actively underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding this incident. Our Special Investigation Task Group (SITG “Samar”) is working in collaboration with the Philippine National Police to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice,” ani Torres.
“This event highlights the challenges faced by our media practitioners in their pursuit of truth and accountability. We stand in solidarity with journalists across the nation during these difficult times, reaffirming our steadfast commitment to upholding press freedom and ensuring the safety of all media workers,” pagtatapos pa niya.
