Pinabulaanan ni dating Interior and Local Government Sec. Benhur Abalos ang umano’y alegasyon sa kaniya ni Cavite 4th district Rep. Kiko Barzaga hinggil sa maanomalyang flood control projects.
Sa kaniyang Facebook post nitong Huwebes, Oktubre 16, 2025, tahasang iginiit ni Abalos na wala umano siyang naging proyektong flood control habang siya ang DILG secretary noon.
“I wish to clarify that during my tenure as Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), I had no involvement in any flood control projects. Furthermore, my nephew, Congressman JC Abalos, was not involved in any such undertakings,” saad ni Abalos.
Pinuna rin ni Abalos ang tila pag-iwas umano ni Barzaga na harapin ang ethics committee na isinampa laban sa kaniya kung saan nagbibitiw lamang daw ito ng mga tirada.

“If I recall correctly, this issue began when you were asked by the Ethics Committee, chaired by Congressman JC, to appear before it. You did not appear and instead hurled unfounded and malicious accusations against me, JC, and my family,” ani Abalos.
Kaugnay nito, isang “unsolicited advice” raw ang iiwan niya kay Barzaga hinggil sa pagiging public servant nito.
Aniya, “Unsolicited advice, Cong. Kiko: as public servants, our foremost responsibility is to the people. It would be proper to address the issues being discussed in the committee instead of resorting to baseless accusations.”
Matatandaang hindi nakadalo sa pagdinig ng Ethics Committee si Barzaga matapos umano siyang ma-late dahil sa kakalaro ng computer games.
“We were very busy last night. I was just playing games on my computer,” paliwanag ni Barzaga.

Nilinaw din ni Barzaga sa kaniyang pahayag noong Lunes, Oktubre 13, na nakahanda raw siya sa kahit na ano, magmula raw ng kalabanin niya si Romualdez.
“I'm ready for anything. When it all started, when I fought against Romualdez, I was fully expecting to die, but kung sanctions lang naman edi that's much better than dying,” saad ni Barzaga.
