“We remember Ninoy Aquino because his story reminds us of the cost of courage. He knew what waited for him at the airport. He knew the danger of returning. But he chose to come home because the struggle for justice demanded presence, even at great personal risk,” ani De Lima.

“August 21 speaks of a moment that continues to unfold. It lives on in every Filipino who refuses to be silent in the face of repression. It calls to mind those who choose to stand firm even when the institutions meant to protect them are used instead to persecute them. It affirms the quiet bravery of those who tell the truth when doing so can cost them everything,” dagdag pa nito.
“From behind bars, in courtrooms, and in the long hours of waiting for justice to catch up. I have seen how lies are dressed up as law, and how power bends institutions to protect itself. But I have also seen how the spirit of resistance endures—in communities, in movements, and in the hearts of the young who are learning to remember,” anang Leila.
“They can delay justice. They can distort history. They can try to convince us that silence is safety. But the memory of August 21 reminds us: there is power in standing up. There is power in telling the truth. And there is power in never giving up,” dagdag pa niya.
Aniya, naniwala si Ninoy sa kaniyang mga katagang “The Filipino is worth dying for.”
