Pinabulaanan ni dating Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque ang mga naging pahayag ni Atty. Nicholas Kaufman—lead counsel ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, laban sa kaniya.

Sa kaniyang inilabas na pahayag  sa kanilang opisyal na Facebook page nitong Miyerkules, Hulyo 30, 2025, iginiit niyang hindi umano maituturing na “crazy schemes” ang mga ginagawa niyang paraan para sa kaso ni dating Pangulong Duterte na minsan na rin daw nilang napag-usapan ni Vice President Sara Duterte.

“I cannot be blamed for devising remedies to bring former [President] Duterte home alive. No such idea can be characterized as a crazy scheme,” ani Roque. 

Dagdag pa niya, “In fact, the Vice President acknowledged that we have discussed the domestic legal remedy in numerous occasions and I have deferred to VP’s decision to hold the domestic legal remedy in abeyance pending the outcome of the interim release.”

Giit pa ni Roque, wala raw lugar ang pang-aatake lalo na sa legal na propesyon lalo na raw sa mga indibidwal na hindi naman daw humahadlang sa pag-usad ng kaso ng dating Pangulo.

“Ad hominem attacks and other forms of character assassination have no place in the legal profession and in any decent society, especially if these are directed against individuals who have not – as I said earlier – interfered in the case,” saad ni Roque.

Kaya naman nanawagan si Roque kay Kaufman na itigil na raw ang paninisi at ituon na lang daw nito ang kaniyang oras na mapauwi nang buhay si dating Pangulong Duterte pabalik sa piling ng mga Pilipino.

“I thus call on Atty. Nicholas Kaufman to put an end to this blame game and simply channel his time and energy to bring the former President home alive to make the Filipinos the happiest persons on earth,” aniya.

Bago nito, nilinaw din ni Roque na patuloy daw niyang sinusuportahan ang Legal Defense ni Pangulong Duterte at hindi raw siya nakikialam sa kaso ng dating Pangulo, taliwas sa mga naging pahayag ni Kaufman.

Matatandaang sa isang panayam sa Alvin and Tourism noong Martes, Hulyo 29, makailang-ulit na binanatan ni Kaufman si Roque bunsod umano ng panghihimasok niya sa kaso ni dating Pangulong Duterte na maaari umanong maglagay sa kanila sa alanganin.

“Dutch lawyer has confirmed to me that Harry Roque approached him with an initiative to sue the Dutch Government for facilitating the rendition of the former President. “In my opinion, this was a crazy scheme because the release of the former President would require the cooperation of the Dutch Government, something unlikely to be forthcoming if they are being sued by the person concerned.” anang lead counsel.
