Hindi bumoto si Davao 1st District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte sa pagka-House Speaker at hindi rin siya sumapi sa minority bloc ng Kamara sa pagbubukas ng 20th Congress.
Sa latest Facebook post ni Duterte nitong Lunes, Hulyo 28, sinabi niya ang dahilan kung bakit mas pinili niyang umalis sa South Wing ng House building.
“I did not vote for Speaker and I did not join the so-called Minority because I refuse to take part in a political circus that has long forgotten who it is supposed to serve — the Filipino people,” saad ni Duterte.
“I walked out after the roll call with my fellow Davao legislators because I represent the people of Davao City,” pagpapatuloy niya, “not the political puppeteers nor the self-serving actors parading as public servants in Congress.“
Dagdag pa ng kongresista, “I will not lend my name nor my vote to any side that treats leadership as a prize, not a responsibility. I am not a Dabawenyo for nothing. I have principles. I know where I stand.”
Si reelected Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez pa rin ang tatayong House Speaker sa 20th Congress matapos niyang makakuha ng higit 200 boto mula sa mga kapuwa kongresista.
Samantala, si Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Sandro Marcos naman ang magsisilbing House Majority Leader.
