Hindi umano pinayagan ng Canada na makakuha ng permanent resident status ang isang dating tauhan ng Philippine National Police (PNP) na nasangkot daw sa kontrobersiyal na kampanya kontra droga ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Ayon sa mga ulat, Hunyo 2021 umano nang dumating sa Canada ang nasabing dating pulis sa pamamagitan ng “spousal open work permit.”
Napag-alaman umano ng Canadian Federal Court na di umano’y sangkot sa “oplan tokhang” ang dating pulis.
“For the reasons below, I believe this application should be dismissed. The Immigration Division (ID) did not commit any fatal errors in concluding that there were reasonable grounds to believe the Applicant had made a voluntary, knowing, and significant contribution to the crimes committed by the Philippine police over the course of then President Rodrigo Duterte’s “war on drugs,” anang Federal Court.
Giit pa nito, “The ID drew a clear and direct link between the Applicant’s police duties and the crimes against humanity committed by Philippine authorities; in short, its conclusions were adequately justified in light of the facts and applicable legal principles. There are no errors warranting judicial intervention.
