Ipinaliwanag ni Senate President Chiz Escudero ang dahilan kung bakit hindi pa rin umano umuusad ang mga inihaing impeachment cases laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Sa latest episode ng “KC After Hours” noong Sabado, Pebrero 1, sinabi ni Escudero na sinasalamin umano ng Kamara ang kahilingan at kagustuhan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. sa usapin ng impeachment.
“The president has taken a position that it is not the right time to be doing these things. And you have to understand that it’s a fact of life that the House is allied with the president to the tune of about 70, 80%,” lahad ni Escudero.
Dagdag niya, “So the House simply reflecting the wishes, the desires of the president with respect to the impeachment being held [...] and not being done at this time.”

Bukod dito, nilinaw din ni Escudero na bagama’t ang Kamara ay nagsisilbing kinatawan ng taumbayan, mahirap umanong gawing batayan sa pagdedesisyon ang mga survey result.
Base sa survey ng Social Weather Stations (SWS) noong Enero, tinatayang 41% ng mga Pilipino ang sang-ayon sa inihaing impeachment laban kay Duterte.

Pero ayon kay Escudero, “It’s very difficult to make decisions based on survey results; or based on how loud the noise is for a particular side; or how silent the noise is for the other side because that’s where the word…silent majority came from. Sometimes deep waters run silent and quieter.”
Matatandaang kamakailan lang ay naiulat na hindi na umano itutuloy ng majority bloc sa House of Representatives ang impeachment laban sa bise-presidente dahil sa kakulangan ng oras.
