Sa kaniyang pakikiramay sa pagpanaw ni Albay 1st District Rep. Edcel Lagman, inalala ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez ang dedikasyon ng mambabatas para sa karapatang pantao, mabuting pamamahala at katarungan.
Nitong Huwebes, Enero 30, nang pumanaw si Lagman sa edad na 82 dahil daw sa cardiac arrest.

Inilarawan ni Romualdez si Lagman bilang isang “passionate” at “fearless” legislator na nirerespeto ng mga miyembro ng House of Representatives.
“He was more than a colleague—he was a passionate and fearless legislator whose presence in the House of Representatives commanded respect.
“Cong. Edcel was known for his sharp intellect, unwavering principles, and deep commitment to the causes he believed in. Whether one agreed with him or not, no one could deny his dedication to his work and his tireless advocacy for human rights, good governance and social justice. His voice—always firm, always eloquent—pushed important debates forward and challenged us all to think more critically and act more decisively,” aniya.
Sinabi rin ng House leader na mag-iiwan ng puwang ang pagpanaw ni Lagman, hindi lamang sa Kongreso ngunit maging sa serbisyo publiko ng Pilipinas.
“On behalf of the House of Representatives, I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues in the Liberal Party. May they find comfort in knowing that Cong. Edcel’s legacy of service and integrity will endure,” saad ni Romualdez.
Kilala si Lagman sa pagsusulong ng reproductive health law at pagtataguyod ng mga panukalang batas ukol sa human rights at gender equality. Kasama rin siya sa mga pangunahing may-akda ng Absolute Divorce Bill.
