Naglabas ng opisyal na pahayag ang Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Batangas matapos umani ng reaksiyon at komento ang pagbibigay-updates nila sa nangyaring 5.4-magnitude na pagyanig sa Calatagan, Batangas, dakong 6:43 ng gabi ng Lunes, Enero 20.

Hindi umano nagustuhan ng marami ang tila pabirong pagbibibigay nila ng update, dahil ang lindol daw ay isang seryosong kalamidad na hindi umano dapat ginagawang biro, gaya ng "Opo, may lindol. Wait for updates."

Mababasa sa kanilang opisyal na pahayag, "We acknowledge the concern raised regarding our recent Facebook post about the occurrence of an earthquake. The post was made to provide timely information and prompt our audience to stay updated. Additionally, we admit that we have incorporated a trending line that resonates with today’s digital culture."

"We wish to clarify that our intention was never to downplay the seriousness of earthquakes or undermine the credibility of our organization, particularly the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). Earthquakes are a critical matter, and we deeply respect the role of PHIVOLCS in ensuring public safety and awareness."

Niyanig ng 5.4-magnitude na lindol ang Calatagan, Batangas, Lunes ng gabi, Enero 20, ayon sa Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Base sa tala ng Phivolcs, yumanig ang lindol na tectonic ang pinagmulan dakong 6:43 ng gabi.

Ang epicenter ay nasa lokasyong 26 kilometrong hilagang kanluran ng Calatagan, Batangas na may lalim na 074.

Naramdaman naman sa ilang lugar sa Metro Manila ang pagyanig, lalo na sa Quezon City, sa Intensity III (mahina).

Walang pinsala ang pagyanig subalit asahan daw ang aftershocks.
