Nanindigan si Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Crispin “Boying” Remulla nitong Biyernes, Pebrero 9, na walang hurisdiksyon ang International Criminal Court (ICC) sa Pilipinas.
“Our nation, as a sovereign entity, possesses the inherent right to determine our own legal framework and address internal matters without any interference from external bodies,” ani Remulla sa isang pahayag.
Ayon pa sa DOJ chief, ang pagkalas ng bansa sa ICC noong 2019 ay nagpapakita umanong sinisiguro ng pamahalaan ang pagsusulong ng soberanya ng Pilipinas at pagpapanatili ng integridad ng justice system ng bansa.
“We have consistently demonstrated our preparedness, willingness, and capability to thoroughly investigate and prosecute crimes committed within our jurisdiction, ensuring that justice prevails for all our citizens,” giit ni Remulla.
PBBM: ‘I consider ICC as a threat to our sovereignty’
“I would like to emphasize that any presence of international bodies within the Philippines must adhere to our Constitution and relevant laws. Our justice system is robust and functional, fully equipped to safeguard the rights of our people, irrespective of their color, race, beliefs, or creed,” dagdag pa niya.
Samantala, nangako si Remulla na sa ilalim ng kaniyang pamumuno, mananatili raw ang DOJ na determinado sa kanilang dedikasyon sa pagtataguyod ng mga prinsipyo ng hustisya at alituntunin ng batas.
“The welfare and protection of every Filipino citizen lie at the core of our mission, and we will relentlessly defend their rights regardless of beliefs or creed. Our system has proven its efficacy, and we will never forsake the victims,” saad ni Remulla.
“I declare with unwavering determination and conviction, ‘We will steadfastly fight for the rights of every Filipino’,” dagdag pa niya.
Matatandaang kamakailan lamang ay iginiit ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na itinuturing niyang “banta” sa soberanya ng bansa ang ICC at hindi umano makikipagtulungan ang pamahalaan sa imbestigasyon nito sa war on drugs ng administrasyong Duterte.
