Mahigit 6.5 milyong Pinoy ang natulungan ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) noong 2023.
Ayon kay DSWD Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications Romel Lopez, apat na beses ang itinaas ng bilang ng natulungan ng ahensya sa pamamagitan ng Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program nito.
Aniya, nasa 1,691,869 indibidwal lamang ang puntiryang matutulungan ng DSWD kada taon. Gayunman, tumaas ang bilang nito dahil na rin sa hirap ng buhay.
“It is evident that many of our kababayans need support from the government, and we, at the DSWD, remain committed to responding to their immediate needs through the AICS program,” anang opisyal.
Ang ibinigay na tulong ng ahensya ay kinabibilangan ng medical, food cash, burial/funeral at transportation assistance.
“Our clients, who are in crisis, will be assessed by our social workers to determine the types of assistance that best fit their needs,” ani Lopez.
Idinagdag pa ng opisyal na karamihan sa benepisyaryo ng programa na umabot sa 870,000 indibidwal ay galing pa sa Calabarzon region.
