Ito ang pahayag ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez sa gitna ng kaniyang pagkondena sa naging pagpaslang sa radio broadcaster na si Juan Jumalon sa Misamis Occidental habang umeere nang live sa kaniyang programa nitong Linggo, Nobyembre 5.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic demise of radio host Juan Jumalon, fondly known as DJ Johnny Walker of 94.7 Calamba Gold FM. Our thoughts and prayers are with DJ Johnny Walker's family, friends, and colleagues during this challenging time,” saad ni Romualdez nitong Lunes, Nobyembre 6.
Ayon sa ulat ng pulisya, binaril ng hindi pa nakikilalang lalaki si Jumalon habang nakasalang sa kaniyang programa sa 94.7 Calamba Gold FM sa mismong bahay nito sa Barangay Don Bernardo A. Neri.

Matapos ang naging pamamaril ay sinugod pa raw sa Calamba District Hospital si Jumalon kung saan binawian siya ng buhay dahil sa tama umano ng bala sa ilalim ng labi na tumagos sa kaniyang batok.

Kaugnay nito, sinabi ni Romualdez na hindi katanggap-katanggap ang nangyari kay Jumalot at kahit anong pag-atake sa mga miyembro ng media.
"The freedom of the press is a cornerstone of our democracy. Every journalist deserves the right to exercise their profession without fearing for their safety or their lives," anang House leader.
"Any attack or violence against members of the media is unacceptable and deeply troubling. We must ensure that those responsible for these heinous acts are brought to justice," dagdag niya.
Sa kaparehong pahayag ay nagpaabot din ng mensahe si Romualdez sa mga mamamahayag sa bansa.
"To Filipino journalists: Your voices matter. Your stories matter. We stand with you and will continue to advocate for your safety and the right to perform your duties without intimidation or harm," saad ni Romualdez.
"Together, we will strive to put an end to these senseless acts of violence and uphold the sanctity of free expression in the Philippines," dagdag pa niya.
