Naglabas ng pahayag ang Akbayan Party matapos ang pagpapawalang-sala ngMuntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) sa isa sa dalawang natitirang drug case laban kay dating Senador Leila de Lima na inihain ng Department of Justice (DOJ) noong 2017.
"One more step to freedom," paunang pahayag ng Akbayan nitong Biyernes, Mayo 12.
"Akbayan Party lauds the acquittal of former Senator Leila de Lima by the Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court (RTC). With this victory, she is one step closer to freedom. Like in her previous victories, we reiterate what we have already known: That the cases against Leila de Lima had no merit from the very beginning, and that her imprisonment was the work of a vindictive and petty administration," saad pa nito.
Patuloy anila silang mananawaganpara sa kalayaan ni De Lima.
De Lima, pinawalang-sala sa isa pang drug case
"Now that the truth has finally come to light, we will continue to campaign for De Lima's complete release and the dismissal of her remaining charges. Today marks a huge step in Leila's long walk to freedom, and we will be with her when that day finally arrives. Free Leila now!"
Matatandaang sa desisyong inilabas na RTC Branch 204 nitong Biyernes, Mayo 12, hinatulang “not guilty” sina De Lima at Ronnie Dayan sa kasong 17-165, na inakusahan ang dalawa ng sabwatan para gumawa ng illegal drug trading noong panahon umano niya bilang justice secretary.
