“Fellow singers, actors, dancers, or anyone that has to memorize things for a living, indulge my curiosity for a minute… post-pandemic, do you find that your artist brain now works a little differently?” tanong ni Lea sa isang post noong Huwebes.

“Perhaps it’s just the nature of my age, but I used to be far better at learning music for different gigs at the same time. Now, I have to focus on whatever is immediately upcoming, then once that show passes, start on the next thing, let that pass, and then the next. . I also used to be much faster at learning songs; now it takes a bit more time,” sey ng 52-anyos na singing legend.

Sunod na tanong na ni Lea: “Are we suffering from some kind of atrophy from the lack of practice due to lockdowns? Or maybe the collective depression and frustration from all of the things related to the pandemic?”

“I feel this too,” komento ni Nino Alejandro.

“It took me a while to get my sharp brain back TBH [to be honest],” sey ng digital creator na si Jay Kuo.

“Definitely not the only one. I feel like it’s like riding a bike, you start working and memorizing and doing the thing and it’s a bit harder at first then it gets easier and you are in the swing of it all again!!! You got this,” dagdag na saloobin ng isa pang malapit na Facebook friend ni Lea.

“Same here! Glad you voiced that out. With me of course combined with advancing age, I find that my ability to memorise has severely declined. Oh well.”

“I feel completely the same, I must say though I have discovered I’m peri menopausal, having gone on HRT I have found a huge difference, don’t know if that might be of interest to you x.”

“YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Had a concert last night and we were all feeling the same way. So glad to hear you say something about it,” pagbabahagi ng kapwa artist na si Derrick Cobey.

“I think it’s a little bit of everything. I, by no means, memorize the amount of music or scripts at your level but I am finding memorizing 6 pages of script too hard sometimes. I don’t think it’s the memorization per se. I think it’s the attention span.”

“I feel it too! Glad I am not the only one!!! My brain is foggy most of the time these days no matter how much sleep or caffeine I get. I just assumed it was age. I don’t see myself performing anytime soon due to memorization alone.”
