Inanunsiyo ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) nitong Linggo, Marso 26, na hinati sa apat na magkakahiwalay na barangay ang Barangay Muzon, ang pinakamalaking barangay sa lungsod ng San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
Ito’y matapos na magwagi ang botong ‘Yes’ sa isinagawang matagumpay na plebisito sa lugar nitong Sabado, Marso 25.
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ng Comelec na mula sa 43,771 total number of registered voters sa barangay ay 13,322 ang bumoto o 30.44% na voter turnout.
Sa naturang bilang ng mga bumoto, 92.51% o 12,324 ang bumoto ng pabor sa dibisyon o paghahati ng Barangay Muzon sa apat na barangay, habang 7.27% lamang o 969 residente ang tumutol o bumoto ng ‘No.’

“Given this clear mandate from the constituency of Barangay Muzon, considered as the most populous area in the City of San Jose del Monte, the original barangay will henceforth be divided into four distinct and independent barangays, namely: Barangay Muzon Proper, Barangay Muzon East, Barangay Muzon West, and Barangay Muzon South,” anang Comelec.
Sinabi pa ng Comelec na gaya ng ipinaliwanag ng may akda ng Republic Act No. 11896, ang naturang dibisyon, “is intimated on the vision of the local governance in improving the delivery of basic social services for the general welfare of the whole constituency of the City.”
Kaugnay nito, nagpapasalamat naman ang buong Commission en banc, sa pangunguna ni Chairman George Erwin Garcia, sa hindi matatawarang kooperasyon ng lahat ng partner agencies ng Comelec na siyang tumiyak upang maging payapa at matagumpay ang pagdaraos ng naturang plebisito.
“The success of this Plebiscite marks another milestone in the active participation of the Filipino electorate in all electoral exercises, be they large in scale like nationwide automated elections, or smaller in scale like the manually conducted Plebiscites in barangays, municipalities, cities or provinces,” ayon pa sa poll body.
