Isinusulong ng isang kongresista ang pagkakaloob ng hazard pay at night shift differential pay sa mga freelancers.

     

Naghain si Pangasinan 4th District Rep. Christopher de Venecia ng House Bill 615 para bigyan ang freelance workers ng karapatan at poder upang mag-demand ng bayad sa serbisyo na kanilang ginawa .

Ayon kay De Venecia, isa sa pinakamatinding problema ng isang Filipino freelance worker ay ang hindi pagbabayad sa serbisyo na kanilang ginawa.

     

“More often than not, the freelance worker does not pursue any course of action to demand payment for lack of remedial channels, fear of retribution, or lack of resources to pursue legal action,” ayon sa Pangasinan solon.

Batay sa panukalang “Freelance Workers’ Protection Act," alin mang hiring party na kumuha o nag-retain ng serbisyo ng isang freelancer worker ay dapat mag-execute ng isang nakasulat na kontrata sa worker bago isagawa ang serbisyo.

"Freelance workers would also be paid a night shift differential of not less than 10 percent of their regular compensation for each hour of work performed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Freelance workers deployed in dangerous areas would be compensated with a hazard pay equivalent to at least 25 percent of the total payment for the period of such deployment as agreed upon in the contract. Violators would be meted with civil penalties. Meanwhile, all freelance workers would register with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)."
