Hinimok ang publiko nitong Lunes, Agosto 3, na kusang ipataw sa kanilang sarili ang isang enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) na pag-iisip.

Umapela si Dr. Tony Leachon, dating tagapayo ng National Task Force (NTF) na lumalaban sa coronavirus disease dahil sa nakababahala na pagtaas sa mga kaso ng mga taong may COVID-19.

“At hindi biro-biro merong tinatala araw-araw na 5,000 cases. Ngayon po ang total 103,000 cases at hindi pa natin napa-flatten yung curve at hindi pa dumating yung bakuna,” sinabi niya sa isang panayam ng CNN Philippines.

“Ang panawagan ho ng mga doktor stay healthy, voluntary ECQ mindset so that we will not increase the viral transmission and be a burden as well as a problem to the doctors right now who are overwhelmed in the hospital setting,” dagdag niya.

Hiniling din ni Leachon sa publiko na “observe the maximum health standards.”

“Ang kailangan natin gawin is not really to have mass action and mass gatherings,” aniya.

“If you are senior citizens, you don’t go to restaurants and expose yourself particularly those with conditions,” wika niya.

Hinikayat din ni Leachon ang gobyerno na muling baguhin ang pagtugon nito sa anti-COVID-19 pandemic kabilang ang pagkuha ng tulong sa pamayanan ng kalusugan at pagkakaroon ng isang pangkat ng mga eksperto sa medikal upang matulungan ang apat na mga anti-COVID czars.

“We need to enlist more of the medical community to help the government,” ani Leachon na binanggit na kabilang sa itinalagang anti-COVID-19 czars tanging ang Treatment czar na si Health Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega, ang doktor.

Rapid test itigil

Hinimok din ni Leachon ang gobyerno na itigil ang paggamit ng rapid antibody tests at bumalik na lamang sa paggamit sa everse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) sa pagsusuri para sa COVID-19.

“Use the gold standard na RT-PCR considering that marami tayong false negative and false positives with the rapid antibody test and this may have actually contributed to the rise in local transmission,” aniya.

Tinanggap din ni Leachon ang desisyon ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na sundin ang panawagan ng medical community sa pamamagitan ng pagdedeklara ng isang modified ECQ (MECQ) sa Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, at Bulacan.

Bagaman hindi nagustuhan ng Pangulo ang ginawa ng medical community na publikong humiling ng pagbalik sa ECQ sa Mega Manila, tiniyak ni Leachon na hindi nila ito nilayon nang ganoon.

“It might seem to be some sort of revolution to the eyes of the President but it was not meant that way,” aniya.

“The doctors will not actually complain if they are not feeling fatigued and weary. And I think this is the primary reason that they actually present to the President their condition as the father of the country,” aninLeachon.

“We expect that the President will be compassionate, sympathetic to the pleas of the people,” dagdag niya.
