Ilang araw makaraang sibakin ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang lahat ng 64 na empleyado sa administrative section ng Bureau of Customs, tinanggal na rin sa puwesto ni Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero ang sarili niyang Chief of Staff, dahil din sa alegasyon ng kurapsiyon.
Sinibak ng pinuno ng BoC si Chief of Staff Teodoro Jumamil.
Nagpadala si Guerraro ng notice sa mga collection districts ng BoC na nagsasabing pinalitan na ni Deputy Commissioner for Internal Administration Group Donato San Juan si Jumamil.

“Sir/ma’am please be advised that the Office of the Commissioner will not be receiving communication bearing COS Teodoro Jumamil’s name. The DepCom IAG Donato B. San Juan is now the concurrent Chief of Staff of the Ocom. FYI,” saad sa notice.
Si Jumamil, kasama ang ilang tauhan sa Import Assessment Service (IAS), ay kabilang sa mga inireklamo ng isang grupo ng mga brokers dahil umano sa paniningil ng mga unnecessary fees.
Una nang iniulat ng Manila Bulletin na “the IAS has imposed a new 'tara' system that entails them to pay P3,000 per container of general merchandise.”
Reklamo ng grupo ng mga brokers, “the amount guarantees that any importer will be able to pay ‘duties and taxes’ that reach only from P180,000 to P200,000 each container instead of P250,000 to P300,000 if they refused.”
Ang mga nag-aangkat ng sasakyan ay sinisingil ng P50,000-P100,000 kada unit, at ang mga tatanggi ay pagbabayarinn ng pinakamataas na duties at taxes, anila.
Kinumpirma naman ni Assistant Commissioner Vincent Philip Maronilla, tagapagsalita ng BoC, na paalis na nga sa kawanihan si Jumamil, at papalitan ni San Juan.
“He (Jumamil) will be just focusing his work, as DBP (Development Bank of the Philippines) board member,” ani Maronilla.
