IGINIIT ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) chairman at Cycling president Bambol Tolentino na dapat pangatawanan ng Boaard ang naunang pagpapahayag ng pagbibitiw sa Olympic body para bigyan daan ang reporma sa liderato.

Ayon kay Tolentino, suportado niya ang direktiba ng International Olympic Committee (IOC) at ng Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) na kailangan muna na pagtibayin ang pagbibitiw ng mga miyembro ng Executive Board ng POC at pormal na mag-ulat bago gumawa ng aksyon hinggil sa liderato.

“I am in complete agreement with the position of the IOC and the OCA as enunciated by Messrs. McLeod and Al Mussalam that the wishes of the General Assembly should be respected and followed,” pahayag ni Tolentino.

Gayunman nais ng Cycling chief na magkaroon ng “Palabra de Honor” o maging totoo sa kanilang salita ang mga nagbitiw na opisyales batay sa hiling ni Fencing president at Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez sa General Assembly nitong Hunyo 25.

“In the meeting last Tuesday, June 25, it was apparent what the majority of the GA members wanted. They were tired of all the infighting and bickering, and at the instance of Fencing President Mayor Richard Gomez, asked for the resignation of ALL POC Board Members, “ ani Tolentino.

“I spearheaded the offer to resign during that meeting and it was followed by BM Clint Aranas, BM Cynthia Carrion, Auditor Jonee Go, treasurer Julian Camacho and after a protracted pause, 1st vice president Joey Romasanta. I call on all of them to honor their word which they gave in front of the POC General Assembly members last June 25 (In attendance then were 37 of 42 Regular Members,6 of 12 Associate and 2 of 10 Recognized Members). And to those who were not present, I also urge them to heed the members call,” dagdag pa ng Congressman ng Tagaytay.Hindi lamang umano kailangan sa papel ang bisa ng paagbibitiw ng mga miyembro kundi maging sa salitang kanilang binitiwan noong araw na binakante nila ang kanilang mga posisyon.

“Resignations need not be in writing a verbal contract is just as binding as a written one. POC officials are expected to live up to their word, guided by the tenets of Olympism,” ayon pa kay Tolentino.

Gayunman, malabo na maisagawa ang ipinatawag na eleksyon ni Tolentino ngayong Hulyo 5 gayung kailangan muna nila na sumunod sa direktiba ng IOC at OCA bago magsagawa ng kaukulang aksyon.

Nitong Lunes, isang liham nina James Macleod , IOC Director of Olympic Solidarity and NOC relations at Husain Al-Mussalam, Director General ng OCA, na kailangan iulat ng Executive Board ng POC ang kasalukuyang sitwasyon ng organisayon at kailangan na ipaalam sa kanila ang listahan ng mga miyembro na pormal nang nagbitiw sa kanilang posisyon.

“The POC clarify to us the current situation within the Executive Board, and if anyone has formally resgned, provide us with the copy of the formal letter of resignation signed by the member concerned,” bahagi ng liham na natanggap ng POC.

Kasunod nito, doon pa lamang maaring magsagawa ng kaukulang aksyon ang POC gaya ng eleksyon at Extraordinary General Assembly na kanilang nakatakda sanang gawin ngayong buwan.

“In the meantime, the POC should not take any further unilateral decision/action without prior consultantation with the IOC and OCA,” ayon pa sa liham.
