“Thank you for this, Gitri San Diego of ABS-CBN! Love you and am truly proud of this movie. Thank you for appreciating it and giving it the respect I truly believe it deserves!”

Naririto ang magandang feedback sa Kuwaresma:

“I was able to see about 70% of its first cut months ago and I saw the exorcism last week. But it was my first time to see the full feature last night and it was totally terrifying.

“Growing up, I always thought that haunted houses are just haunted by ghosts and the ones in Baguio were the scariest ones.

“Every house has energies. And the more negative energy, the more evil can thrive. And evil doesn’t just haunt houses, it also haunts people. Most of the time, for generations.

“Kuwaresma is set entirely in Baguio in the 80s in a house built in the pre-war era. It is about a family dealing with tragedy.

“It begins with a son’s homecoming due to his twin sister’s apparent suicide. But when his parents are tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding her death, he finds answers in violent hauntings of his sister seemingly blaming him for her death. There is more to how and why she died.

“He soon discovers the spirits that surround their family and the evil that envelops their home. But is he strong enough to defeat it?

Kuwaresma is not just an intelligently layered horror movie, it is a classic case of a spiritual warfare between good and evil. About the devil that lurks and the power within us to defeat it.

“This is where the casting of Sharon Cuneta becomes very important -- she represents the kind of faith, the kind of strength and the kind of love only a mother has -- it is a light breaking through, able to drown out darkness. She is excellent and surprising and totally unleashed in this movie, making a brand new generation recognize why she is the country’s one true Megastar.

“John Arcilla is spellbinding. He is a jaw-droppingly, damn good actor. He will leave you breathless. DAMN!

“And both Kent and Pam Gonzales’ acting debut are remarkable and noteworthy. Holding their own against esteemed, top-calibre actors says something about their chops. They are the new breed, indeed.

“In this new current of horror movies, #Kuwaresma stands out as the creepiest, deepest, most immersive kind. I have never seen a Filipino horror movie dare to go this dark.”
