“Duterte is known for his out of the blue acts. The stunts that this man can pull have always caused a chain of events. This time Duterte’s decision is more than just controversial speech or a few threats at his enemies.

The injustice act made by President Duterte reflects how a man can manipulate human rights. Though the so called “leader” of the Philippines is in Israel for his four day visit, he did not fail to leave another controversial decision. His order towards The AFP and the PNP to arrest Senator Antonio Trillanes IV shook the nation’s media and political affairs.

I am more than confused as to why the President chose to void the amnesty right given to Sen. Trillanes. For sure it is more than just because the Senator is involved on the – of the most known coup d’ etat in the Philippines. It is no secret that the Senator led the Magdalo group in the 2003 and 2007 revolt against the Arroyo administration.

But years have passed so why open a case that’s long been forgotten? Instead of focusing on the current problems the Philippines is facing, Duterte seems to feed his hunger for revenge, instead of feeding the hungry Filipinos he has left.

This act of the President left a huge impact on my perspective of the government. The disbelief I felt when I realized that people could listen to the whims of a man, instead of the cries of the people. And this same man we’ve entrusted our fate is the man who is slapping it on our faces that we cannot do anything under his watch.

Trillanes is known for the public criticism he has expressed against Duterte. Ever since 2016, the senator filed a case against Duterte for his alleged secret bank accounts. Of course the case was dismissed by the court.

Though it is not yet confirmed if Duterte’s order is valid for the Trillanes amnesty was approved by both the Senate and the House of Representatives. It is obvious that this administration disregards the idea of justice and human rights. This act of his reflects the whole Duterte administration. Howcan we trust this person with our lives if all he cares about is his personal feuds?

We have the freedom to speak against him. Trillanes is not the only person who suffers the hands of metal of the very own president. If a senator can be treated like this , how much abuse those weak and little deprived Filipinos are going through?

As a nation we need to move. What more can this tyrant do to satisfy his desires? Let us not wait for the day that he makes the Philippines his hell home. I as a student can make a change, but with the whole nation, this man does not stand a chance. The Congress and Senate should think twice. Before listening to Duterte for many are already aware of the truth.

Filipinos are natural born heroes. We have what it takes to take down a man whose beliefs stain our own justice system. Use whatever it takes to hope for a better country. Only then, the Philippines will achieve the rightful freedom, justice, peace and rights we deserve.”
