LONDON (AP) — Maagang napalaban si Roger Federer, ngunit tulad ng inaasahan umusad siya sa season-ending ATP Finals nitong Linggo (Lunes sa Manila).

Ginapi ng 19-time Grand Slam champion si Jack Sock, 6-4, 7-6 (4), sa O2 Arena.

“Sure, I had a tactical plan with my team,” pahayag ni Federer.

“But very often in a first match like this, it gets thrown overboard because at the end you’re just happy to be serving well. Focus on that first, and then on the return game sort of try your best, try to keep the ball in play, and go from there.”

Kasalukuyang ranked No.2 ang 36-anyos na si Federer, kampeon ngayong taon sa Australian Open at Wimbledon at pinakamatandang player na nakapaglaro sa season-ending tournament na sinimulan noong 1970.

Sa iba pang resulta, nagwagi si Alexander Zverev kay Wimbledon runner-up Marin Cilic 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

“I missed one first serve in the first game,” pahayag ni Sock. “I had my chances. He put me in some awkward positions on some of those forehands.”
