IPINALABAS ang newly revamped MTV Movie & TV Awards sa unang pagkakataon nitong nakaraang Linggo ng gabi, hosted by Pitch Perfect at ng Workaholics star na si Adam Devine.
Para sa 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards — dating kilala bilang MTV Movie Awards simula 1992 hanggang 2016 — pinarangalan ng network ang fan-favorites sa pelikula at sa telebisyon. Iniuwi ng Beauty and the Beast ang Movie of the Year at napanalunan naman ng Stranger Things ang pinakaunang Show of the Year award.
Ito rin an unang incarnation ng event upang hindi kilalanin ang mga aktor batay sa kanilang kasarian. Sa halip, naglaban-laban ang lahat ng female, male, at gender non-binary actors sa top acting awards.
