DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Sa wakas, makakatikim na si Elina Svitolina ng Ukraine ng top 10 ranking matapos makamit ang ikalawang titulo ngayong season.

Nadomina ni Svitolina si Caroline Wozniacki, 6-4, 6-2, sa final ng Dubai Tennis Championship nitong Sabado (Linggo sa Manila).

“It’s big relief, because I knew that if I win this match, I’m gonna be top 10,” pahayag ni Svitolina. “There was extra pressure. (And) when I was warming up, added even more pressure because they announced it. It didn’t help.”

Nakopo ni Svitolina ang final berth nang pabagsakin ang top-seeded na si Angelique Kerber sa three-set semifinal.

Ang Dubai tournament ang pinakaprestihiyosong torneo sa anim na kampeonatong napagwagihan ni Svitolina sa WTA event.

Tangan niya ang 12-match winning streak.

“I kind of felt like I ran out of steam a little bit and she took advantage of that,” sambit ni Wozniacki.

“She stepped it up a little bit, and that was kind of that. Obviously, it’s frustrating when you see what you want to do out there and you just can’t do it.”
