Nakararanas din ng pang-uusig ang mga simbahan sa Pilipinas, ayon sa pinuno ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

Sinabi ni CBCP president Lingayen Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas na ang mga pagtatangka na p

“You told the Church to keep quiet and not get involved in anything that is not in a manner of speaking religious so the Church will not get engaged in politics, culture, in business or whatever form. The Church should be at the pulpit, the sacristy, and if the Church teaches about ethics and morality in human behavior, it is considered interference of the Church,” aniya sa press briefing sa Intramuros para sa paglulunsad ng Aid for the Church in Need-Philippines kahapon.

Ngunit sinabi ni Villegas na hindi tatahimik ang Simbahan.

“The Church must really get involved and we cannot tell the Church to keep quiet. Its not in the nature of the Church to keep quiet because the Church must always proclaim,” aniya.

Gayunman, idiniin ng pinuno ng CBCP na hindi sa iisang grupo lamang nagmumula ang pang-uusig at nangyayari rin ito sa mismong loob ng simbahan.
