Inilunsad ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ang isang public portal na magsisilbing gabay sa pagsubaybay at pangangasiwa sa daloy ng mga ilog sa bansa.
Ayon kay Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson, nakipagsanib-puwersa ang kagawaran sa United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Water Security for Resilient Economic Growth and Stability sa pagbuo ng website na iba sa umiiral na data stream ng DPWH sa digitized format na gagamitin laban sa pag-apaw ng ilog na nagdudulot ng baha.
“For a while now, access to river flow information is limited and has been only available upon request. With the launching the Streamflow Management System (SMS) website, we will have accessible records and maps of river flow stations initially from river gauging stations in Regions 6, 8, 9, 10, and 12,” ani Singson.
Ang SMS website, na hahawakan ng DPWH Bureau of Design-Water Projects Division (BOD-WPD), ay inilunsad nitong Huwebes at magiging ganap na operational sa Oktubre ng taong ito.

“It will eventually operate on a nationwide scale and will be beneficial in terms of water resource regulation, flood control and management, in localized disaster risk planning, and in coming up with water resources development plans across the country,” paliwanag ni Singson.
Ang river flow data ay gagamitin sa pagbuo ng discharge measurement na magbibigay-daan sa mga inhinyero at mga water resources planner sa pagsasaayos ng disenyo para sa resilient infrastructures para sa pinagkukunan ng tubig sa bansa. (Mina Navarro)
