“It’s something that we wouldn’t want to miss. Definitely, I get starstruck pero okay naman ‘yun. I was in New York for the iEmmys and si Tita Charo (Santos) was the head jury. You get to meet different people and it’s my first Berlinale so, wow, to get the chance to have a selfie with Meryll Streep, di ba? I don’t expect anything, more than anything it’s really representing the Philippine cinema so to be given this kind of prestige.

“To be on board a project that you can say is a passion project for all of us and I haven’t seen the film pero sabi ko nga, to do something with Direk Lav (Diaz) it’s already an opportunity for me and my career na hindi ako puwedeng matapos sa trabaho ko na hindi ko makakatrabaho si Direk Lav. Kaya pinilit naming lahat.”

“I guess it was more intimate. Yearly tradition is I spend it with the family but medyo nakakapagod ‘yung thought na you get to spend it with the less fortunate ones and you see their plight. You see how they are and it’s humbling. So ‘yun ang na-realize ko kahapon when I was in different orphanages. Ang sarap lang ng feeling na ‘yung iisipin mo na as much as you are privileged you are more fortunate than most people. Babalik ka do’n sa thought na you have to realize there’s still other people who are wanting to have a better life,” pahayag ni Piolo. (Ador Saluta)
