Mas hihigpitan at palalawakin pa ang mga batas upang mapigilan ang paglaganap ng paggamit ng mga ipinagbabawal na gamot sa mga atleta at magkaroon ng manipulasyon sa mga laro, ang inihain ng Mababang Kapulungan at Senado.

Ito ang inihayag ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Executive Director Atty. Guillermo Ioy Jr., matapos itong dumalo sa ipinatawag na International Olympic Committee (IOC) at World Anti-Doping Association (WADA) Conference of Parties on Anti-Doping sa Paris, France.

“It is the recommendation of WADA that laws must be made on doping,” sabi ni Iroy Jr. “The main objective is not to only protect the clean athletes but go to those who provided the source of illegal drugs knowingly or unknowingly provided and used by the athletes,” sabi nito.

Nakatakdang makipag-usap ang PSC sa mga namumuno ng mga komite sa Kongreso at Senado upang isumite ang mga detalye hinggil sa napagkasunduan sa pagpupulong sa France upang mabuo ang isang panukalang batas hinggil sa mga bawal na gamot sa mundo ng sports.

“Banned substances are still being used unknowingly by the athletes, that is why WADA is very particular on making laws that will regulate and prohibit such used of drugs,” sabi pa ni Iroy Jr.

Tinukoy din sa pulong ng mga malalaking asosasyon sa sports sa buong mundo ang pagtuon sa paghuli at pagpigil sa mga tao at grupo na nagmamanipula ng mga laro.

“The European Council is also focusing on all conference parties regarding the manipulation of game results. They wanted to have each country to look after the game fixing issue that is now hounding some of the world’s popular sports,” sabi pa ni Iroy Jr.

“In view of the countries support to these international concerns, the PSC is going to propose to the Senate as well as to the Congress to have a propose bill on both international issues for the good of all sports,” dagdag pa niya.
