Inaalam pa ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang ulat hinggil sa dalawang Pinoy na sinasabing namatay sa pakikipaglaban ng oposisyon sa Syria.

“Philippine Government is cognizant of the potential threat to national security that could be posed by Philippine nationals joining extremist groups overseas. Such dangers include the propagation of extremist ideas and terrorism by Filipinos affiliated with such groups upon their return home,” ayon sa kalatas ng DFA.

Sinabi pa ng DFA sinimulan na ang pagmomonitor ng security at intelligence ng bansa sa posibleng pagrecruit ng grupong Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) at ibang foreign extremist group sa Pilipinas.

Mariing kinokondena ng Pilipinas ang terrorist act ng mga miyembro ng ISIS.

Ang pagsasailalim ng mga Pinoy extremist sa training ng ISIS ay unang ibinulgar ni dating Pangulong Fidel Ramos.

Bilang miyembro ng international community, determinado ang Pilipinas na suportahan global efforts na pigilin ang ISIS.
