Inilatag ng Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) ang anila’y mga batas na nalabag ni Quezon City 4th District Rep. Bong Suntay, matapos ang umano’y “sexist remarks” nito sa actress-host na si Anne Curtis, kung saan ginamit niya ito bilang personal na halimbawa sa isyu noon ng pagiging “designated survivor” ni Vice President Sara Duterte.
Kaugnay ito sa pagdinig ng House Committee on Justice hinggil sa impeachment complaints na nakahain laban kay VP Sara.
Sa ibinahaging pahayag ng PCW sa kanilang Facebook page noong Miyerkules, Marso 4, hindi lamang daw “offensive” ang mga tinuran ni Suntay; bagkus ito rin daw ay lumalabag sa mga batas na umiiral sa Pilipinas.
“Representative Suntay’s statement is not merely offensive—it is actionable under Philippine law and in direct violation of the ethical standards expected of every public servant,” saad ng PCW.
Nabanggit nila kaugnay sa isyu ay ang mga sumusunod na batas: Republic Act 11313 o ang “The Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law), Republic Act 9710 o “The Magna Carta of Women,” Republic Act 6713 o ang “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees,” at ang “The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
Panawagan din nila ang isang “immediate” at “unqualified public apology,” na hindi umano nagsisimula sa “if anyone was offended.”
Mariin din nilang inuudyukan si Rep. Suntay na sumailalim sa isang “gender sensitivity training,” “gender-fair communication,” at “values formation training.”
Nagbigay din ng pahayag ang PCW para sa aktres na si Anne.
“To Ms. Anne Curtis and to every Filipino woman who heard those words and felt the weight of being reduced to an object—the PCW sees you,” anila.
“Your dignity is not negotiable. Your personhood is not available for public consumption. You deserve better from those who hold public trust,” dagdag pa nila.

Samantala, nanghingi na ang kongresista ng paumanhin sa aktres, ngunit nanindigan ito na walang malisya ang kaniyang mga tinuran.
“While may mga tao siguro that found the analogy in bad taste, doon sa mga na-offend, inuulit ko, walang malice doon sa ninais nating gawin doon sa statement na iyon. Ayaw natin makasakit through that analogy. But kung may nasaktan, humihingi tayo ng dispensa. Kay Ms. Anne Curtis din, kung nasaktan siya sa sinabi, uulitin ko, there was no malice intended at tayo humihingi ng dispensa sa kaniya,” saad ni Suntay sa media noong Miyerkules, Marso 4.
