Napatanong si Atty. Nicholas Kaufman kung may nakaisip bang imbestigahan ang umano'y drug-related killings sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos Jr..

Sa ikatlong araw ng confirmation of charges hearing ng International Criminal Court (ICC) para kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte nitong Huwebes, Pebrero 26, binanggit ng lead defense counsel ang report mula sa Dahas Project ng University of the Philippines, kung saan makikita ang datos ng mga pagpatay umano sa ilalim ng Marcos admin sa unang dalawang taon nito.

"Out of 342 killings, 160 were at the hands of state agents. And the figures and the statistics just kept on rising," ani Kaufman sa submission of merits.

Dagdag pa niya, mula 342 killings, umakyat sa 362 ang bilang ng pagpatay mula Hulyo 2023 hanggang Hunyo 2024. Ayon pa sa report na ipinakita niya, ang state agents ang may pananagutan sa 34% ng mga pagpatay.

Dahil dito, napatanong si Kaufman kung mayroon daw bang nakaisip na imbestigahan ang aniya'y patuloy na patayan sa ilalim ng Marcos admin, kahit bumaba na sa puwesto noon si Duterte.

"There is no reason to believe that Duterte’s disappearance from the political scene would have frustrated the ongoing incidents of murder at the hands of state agents or vigilantes," aniya.

“Clearly, I’m forced to ask myself whether anyone on the other side of this room has thought of investigating the Marcos regime and the related phenomenon and holding someone accountable," dagdag pa ni Kaufman.

Pahaging niya, "Why are my colleagues sitting to the right the victims' representatives, not clamoring for accountability for those deaths or is it of no consequence now that Mr. Duterte is sitting in the ICC detention center?"

Habang isinusulat ito, wala pang pahayag si Marcos o ang Malacañang kaugnay sa mga pahayag ni Kaufman.
