Nagbigay ng tugon si SAGIP Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta matapos siyang kondenahin ni Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo "Ping" Lacson sa naging suhestiyon niya na gawing pambala sa kanyon ang ilang opisyal ng gobyerno kabilang ang mga senador sakaling giyerahin ng China ang Pilipinas.

Sa latest Facebook post ni Rep. Marcoleta noong Linggo, Pebrero 8, sinabi niyang si Lacson umano ang nagsimula ng mga metaporikal na patutsada.

Ayon sa kongresista, sinusundan lang umano niya ang “creative trend” na ito.
“The ‘cannon fodder’ thing, as he calls it, which should also be taken figuratively in context, is an indirect challenge on the battle-readiness of the PCG spox and some Senators to be at the frontlines in a worst-case scenario that China declares war on the Philippines amid these tensions,” dugtong pa niya.
Samantala, pinalagan naman ni Philippince Coast Guard (PCG) spokesperson Jay Tarriela ang banta ni Rep. Marcoleta laban sa kaniya at sa iba pang opisyal ng gobyerno na hayagang tumutuligsa sa pang-aabuso ng China sa teritoryong sakop ng Pilipinas.
Aniya, “Without mentioning your disrespectful and uncourteous remark to the Senators, it is concerning that a member of the House of Representatives would express themselves in a manner that appears to wish harm and demise upon our country.”

Kaya naman gaya ng ama nitong si Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, inimbitahan din ni Tarriela ang kongresista na dumayo sa Kalayaan Island Group (KIG).
Ito ay matapos ang kontrobersiyal na pahayag ng senador na isuko na lang ang nasabing isla dahil hindi naman umano ito saklaw ng Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) ng Pilipinas.
