Kinumpirma ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) na walang personal na pagbisita mula sa pamilya ang kontrobersiyal na contractor na si Sarah Discaya noong mga araw ng Pasko habang siya ay nakapiit sa Lapu-Lapu City Jail sa Mactan, Cebu.

Ayon kay BJMP spokesperson Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera, limitado lamang sa online visits ang mga bisita ni Discaya, at karamihan pa sa mga ito ay mula sa kaniyang abogado.

“So far, there have been no personal visits because visitation is strictly through online platforms. Most of her visits have been from her lawyer, and her food is sent from outside and inspected before being allowed inside,” pahayag ni Bustinera sa panayam ng Super Radyo dzBB.

Si Discaya at walong dating opisyal ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) sa Davao Occidental ay inilipat sa Lapu-Lapu City Jail noong Disyembre 19 matapos maglabas ng warrant of arrest laban sa kanila.

Kasalukuyang nakapiit si Discaya sa female dormitory ng pasilidad.

Nauna nang naghain ng urgent motion si Discaya sa Lapu-Lapu City Regional Trial Court upang manatili umano siya sa kustodiya ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), kaugnay ng mga alegasyon na sangkot ang kaniyang mga kumpanya sa maanomalyang flood control projects.

Bilang tugon, sinabi ng BJMP na nakapagsumite na sila ng komento sa naturang petisyon. 

“We have already submitted our comment since we were given no more than ten days. With the upcoming holidays, our warden sent it ahead of time. Our position is that the BJMP facility is fully prepared, regardless of whether the detainee is a high-profile individual,” ayon kay Bustinera.
