Tahasang binuweltahan ng legal counsel ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na si Atty. Nicholas Kaufman ang naging pahayag ni Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla tungkol sa umano’y warrant of arrest na inilabas ng ICC laban kay Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
Sa isang Facebook post na ibinahagi ng Duterte supporter at vlogger na si Alvin Sarzate noong Linggo, Nobyembre 9, sinabi umano ni Kaufman na “figment of fertile imagination” lang daw ito ng Ombudsman.
“There is nothing to suggest that the supposed arrest warrant for Senator Dela Rosa is anything other than a figment of Ombudsman Remulla’s fertile imagination,” ani Kaufman.
Aniya pa, taliwas umano ito sa “common sense” at lohika sapagkat hindi pa naman natatapos ang imbestigasyon ng ICC kaugnay sa war on drugs ng administrasyong Duterte.
“It goes against all common sense and prosecutorial logic for the ICC to issue further warrants in the context of the Philippines investigation until the issue of its ability to exercise jurisdiction over the so-called war on drugs has been finally resolved on appeal,” saad pa niya.
Matatandaang sa isang panayam kamakailan, kinumpirma ni Ombudsman Remulla na mayroon nang arrest warrant ang ICC laban kay Sen. Dela Rosa.

Kaugnay nito, nagpahayag din ang kampo ng mambabatas hinggil sa umano’y arrest warrant laban sa kaniya. Anila, kung ito man ay totoo, nagtitiwala sila sa gobyerno ng Pilipinas na ito ay kikilos nang naaayon sa batas.
“If proven true, we trust that the Philippine Government will act in accordance with the rule of law, and that any such action shall first pass through the proper local judicial confirmation process consistent with our Constitution, due process, and the sovereign rights of the Republic of the Philippines,” ani Torreon, legal counsel ni Sen. Bato.

Ayon naman sa Palasyo, wala pa umano silang kumpirmasyong natatanggap hinggil sa naturang warrant of arrest.
