Naglunsad ang Department of Environment and National Resources (DENR) ng multistakeholder upang siyasatin ang proyektong Monterrazas de Cebu.
Sa isang Facebook post ng DENR nitong Biyernes, Nobyembre 7, ipinakilala ng ahensya ang mga magiging bahagi ng imbestigasyon.
Anila, “To ensure thorough and impartial review of the Monterrazas de Cebu Project, the Department today convened a multistakeholder Joint Inspection, Investigation, and Assessment Team of technical experts from the DENR Region 7, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB-7), Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB-7), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Cebu, Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Cebu City, the Cebu City Government, and Barangay Guadalupe.”
Inatasan ang buong team na magkasa ng komprehensibong onsite investigation mula Nobyembre 7 upang tukuyin ang mga sumusunod:
DPWH sa Senado: 'Restore the deducted amounts from the projects in the 2026'
-the project's compliance with the conditions of its ECC and other environmental regulations
-the effectiveness of its drainage, slope protection, and runoff management systems
-the stability of slopes and potential risks of landslides and flooding
-possible alterations to the natural landform and proximity to timberland areas
-evidence of erosion, siltation, or obstructions in nearby tributaries and waterways
Sa kasalukuyan, inutusan na ng DENR ang project proponent na tumalima sa tungkulin nitong iulat ang “Engineering, Geological, and Geohazard Assessment.”
“Compliance to this requirement will be validated by the joint inspection team,” dugtong pa ng ahensya.
Sakali mang mapatunayang nagkaroon ng paglabag sa ECC conditions o enviromental regulations, hindi umano mag-aalinlangan ang DENR na magpataw ng parusang naayon sa umiiral na batas.
Matatandaang sa gitna ng hagupit ng bagyong Tino, sinalanta ng hate comments ang engineer at "Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited" Big Winner na si Slater Young Slater dahil ang naturang proyekto ang itinuturong dahilan ng matinding pagbaha sa Cebu.
Nauna nang ibinida ni Slater ang proyektong ito sa kaniyang vlog noong Agosto 2023. Sinagot na rin niya ang tungkol dito matapos siyang kuwesityunin.
“This is just a small, small portion of the mountain, at the foot of the mountain,” saad ni Slater.
Dagdag pa niya, "This only has 146 units. So, very exclusive ito. Of course, it's still big, no doubt about it. But hindi siya yung buong bundok. It's just the side of a mountain. And even if you go to Google Earth and you look at that site, wala kayong makikita na forest there."
