Nagbaba ng temporary travel suspension ang Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) nitong Biyernes, Agosto 29 habang iniimbestigahan ang mga tauhan at proyekto nito.
Ayon sa memorandum ni DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, pansamantalang sinususpinde ng ahensya ang pagbibigay ng authority to travel sa mga tauhan at opisyal nito hanggang sa katapusan ng Nobyembre 2025 bilang kanilang obligasyon sa integridad sa pampublikong serbisyo sa kasagsagan ng mga imbestigasyon ng administrasyon sa kanilang mga proyekto.
“In light of the ongoing validation of DPWH projects and in line with our commitment to transparency, accountability, and public service integrity, approval of all applications for Authority to Travel abroad for Personal Reasons are hereby temporarily suspended, except for personal travel for urgent medical reasons, effective immediately until the end of November 2025 or unless circumstances warrant earlier lifting of the suspension or further extension,” saad sa nasabing memorandum.
Sa kaugnay na balita, maaalalang binigyang direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., ang DPWH na magsumite ng mga proyekto nito mula 2022, sa ikaapat na State of the Nation Address (SONA) nito noong Hulyo 2025.

At sa inisyal na review na ginawa ni PBBM noong Lunes, Agosto 11, nakitang sa estimated ₱ 100 bilyon, 20 porsyento ng lahat ng flood control projects sa mga nakalipas na 3 taon ay isinagawa ng 15 contractors lamang.
Binanggit din niya na sa taong 2022 lamang, mayroong naitalang ₱ 545 bilyon na napunta sa flood control projects sa buong bansa.
“I don’t know about you, but that is a very big number. By any measure, that is an enormous number,” saad ng Pangulo sa press conference nito sa Malacañang.
“However, this is another disturbing assessment, statistic: 20 percent of the entire 545 billion budget napunta lang sa 15 na contractors. Sa 15 na contractor na ‘yan, lima sa kanila ay may kontrata sa buong Pilipinas,” dagdag nito.
Dito rin ay hinimok ng Pangulo ang publiko na magbigay ng kanilang komento at iba pang impormasyon na maaaring makatulong sa imbestigasyon.
“We are not accusing anyone of anything yet. However, it gives us an idea of what, how this has been conducted. So, I hope the people will take advantage of this. And as I said, there is always a way for them to give their comments,” saad niya.
