“I join the nation in offering our deepest sympathies to the families of the two Filipino seafarers who perished in the Houthi attack on True Confidence,” ani Marcos sa kaniyang X post nitong Linggo, Marso 10.
“The 13 surviving Filipino seafarers, including the three who were injured during the attack, are now safely in Djibouti and are being assisted by our Embassy in Cairo to return safely home as soon as possible,” ani Marcos.
Sinabi rin ng pangulo na inatasan niya ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), DMW-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Health (DOH), at Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) upang magkaloob ng tulong sa mga seafarer at kanilang mga pamilya.
“The Philippines joins global calls for the end to this conflict and for full respect for the principle of freedom of navigation,” saad pa ni Marcos.
“We remain firmly committed to the safety and welfare of our seafarers and overseas Filipino workers in the region,” dagdag niya.
