Mariing kinondena ni Senador Risa Hontiveros ang naging pagbangga ng China Coast Guard (CCG) sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)-contracted indigenous resupply boat na Unaiza May 2 (UM2) na nagsasagawa umano ng rotation and resupply (RORE) mission sa BRP Sierra Madre na bahagi ng Ayungin Shoal.

“CHINA, TAMA NA. This latest collision is squarely the China Coast Guard’s fault,” pagbibigay-diin ni Hontiveros sa isang pahayag nitong Linggo, Oktubre 22.

“The 2016 Arbitral Award has resolutely invalidated China’s claims in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), making this incident a clear violation of international law,” dagdag pa niya.

Kaugnay nito, sinabi ni Hontiveros na may karapatan ang coast guard at vessels ng bansa na maglayag sa WPS.

Wala rin umanong karapatan ang China na itaboy ang mga barko ng Pilipinas, lalo na raw ang “saktan at banggain ang Pilipinong barkong tanging gumagawa lang ng kanyang trabaho sa sarili nating teritoryo.”

“Chinese vessels have chased, blocked, and harassed our Philippine Coast Guard daily, 24/7 every single time we conduct our resupply mission to the BRP Sierra Madre. Sila ang nanadya, nambabanta, at nangaalipusta, kaya sila ang dapat managot,” giit ni Hontiveros.

“I call on the international community to join the Philippines’ condemnation of China’s most recent violence against the Filipino people. Our nations should not stop fighting for the rule of law. It is the only way to have a chance at true peace and stability across the region and the world,” saad pa niya.

Matatandaang kinumpirma ng National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea nitong Linggo ang pagbangga ng CCG sa resupply boat ng AFP, maging ang pagbangga umano ng Chinese Maritime Militia vessel 00003 (CMMV 00003) sa port side ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) na MRRV 4409.

Naglabas naman ng pahayag ang CCG kaugnay nito, at iginiit na “trespassing” umano ang mga vessel ng Pilipinas.
