Chel Diokno sa pagtakbo ng Akbayan sa Kongreso: ‘Our record speaks for itself!’
Ipinatatanggal ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri ang floating barrier na inilatag ng China Coast Guard (CCG) sa bahagi ng Bajo de Masinloc o kilala rin sa tawag na Scarborough o Panatag Shoal kamakailan.
Partikular na nanawagan si Zubiri sa Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) na pangunahan ang nasabing hakbang.
Bahagi lamang ito ng pagkadismaya ng senador sa isa pang pagtatangka ng CCG na pigilan ang mga mangingisdang Pinoy na pumasok sa pinag-aagawang teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
“First of all, they have no right to put any structures within our Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and secondly, these structures pose a danger on passing fishing boats that can get entangled on the lines and cause considerable damage to the propellers and engines of our fisherfolk,” pagdidiin ng senador.
“Therefore, I would like to request our Philippine Coast Guard to immediately cut and remove all these illegal structures located at our West Philippine Sea not just to assert our sovereign rights to the area but to protect our fishermen from any possible accidents that may arise from these illegal structures,” sabi pa ni Zubiri.
Ang 300 metrong boya ay nadiskubre ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) at PCG habang sila ay nagsasagawa ng maritime patrol nitong Setyembre 22.
