Hinirang ng International Banknote Society (IBNS) ang polymer ₱1,000 bill ng Pilipinas na ‘Banknote of the Year’ para sa taong 2022.

Sa social media post ng IBNS, sinabi nitong nakuha ng polymer ₱1,000 bill ang award matapos itong maging "overwhelming favorite" sa botohan ng banknote collectors at mga mananaliksik.

"The Philippines successful design in eye-pleasing blue combines an endangered species with an environmental motif," saad ng IBNS.

Binanggit din ng IBNS na tinatampok ng polymer ₱1,000 bill ng Philippines Central Bank ang dalawang simbolismo ng Pilipinas — ang critically endangered Philippine eagle at ang holographic Sampaguita, na siyang pambansang bulaklak ng 'Pinas.

"The back design of the note is unchanged from the previous 1000 Piso issue which features Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), country map, and South Sea pearl," saad ng IBNS.

"Descendants of the three World War II heroes previously on the face of the note were so opposed to the design change that the Central Bank will continue to print both varieties of the 1000 Piso banknote for the time being," dagdag nito.

Bukod sa bill ng Pilipinas, kasama umano sa top 3 ang 50 Pound bill ng Northern Ireland at ang 100 Pound note ng Scotland.

Ang IBNS ay isa umanong nonprofit educational organization na nakabase sa United States at mayroon nang 2000 miyembro na nagmula pa sa iba't ibang dako ng mundo.
