Ibinahagi ni dating Senador Leila de Lima ang mga natutunan niya sa ginanap na misa sa Philippine National Police General Hospital (PNPGH) kung saan siya naka-confine.

"Hindi natutulog ang Diyos. May dahilan ang lahat. Mahal ka ng Diyos," saad ni de Lima sa kaniyang Twitter account nitong Martes, Oktubre 11.

"These were the lessons or spiritual gems learned by Bishop Soc Villegas from his father which the good Bishop shared with us during his Homily at a Mass held this morning at the hall right outside my room here at the PNPGH where I’m currently confined," dagdag pa niya.

Ibinahagi rin ng dating senadora na pinuntahan siya ni Bishop Villegas pagkatapos ng misa.

"We were joined in said Mass by some PNP officials and PNPGH personnel. I cried in the course of the Homily and also during the special blessing he gave me before the end of the Mass.

"As always, Bishop Soc’s words were simple yet beautiful and intensely profound, piercing through the listeners’ hearts. With clearance from PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr., Bishop Soc came to see me to extend his sympathy for what I went through as a hostage and to offer," saad pa ni de Lima.

Nagpapasalamat din siya sa Diyos dahil sa pagliligtas nito sa kaniya sa nangyaring hostage taking.

"Thanksgiving to God Almighty for saving me from that harrowing experience. After the Mass, I recounted to Bishop Soc the incident, telling him that God was definitely with me in that near-death experience, kept me mentally alert and strong, and saved my life.

"Told him also that after I prayed, “Lord, bahala na po kayo…” at that very moment when I thought my time in this world is up, He took over.

"Hindi talaga natutulog ang Diyos. At mahal Niya ako. May dahilan ang mga pangyayaring ito sa buhay ko, bagamat di ko pa lubusang naiintindihan. Thank you so much, Bishop Soc, for all the love, constant spiritual guidance and prayers. Mahal ko po kayo. Mahal ko po ang Panginoon."

Matatandaang noong Oktubre 9 ay hinostage ng tatlong inmates si de Lima matapos saksakin ng mga ito ang isang pulis na nagrarasyon ng pagkain sa Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center sa loob ng Camp Crame.
