Iginiit ng grupong Tax Management Association of the Philippines (TMAP) na pinarurusahan ng batas ang sinumang hindi nagbabayad ng buwis.
Reaksyon ito ng grupo nang mapansin nila ang mga ipinost sa social media kung saan binabanggit ang ruling ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) 1st Division na nagbabasura sa disqualification case laban kay presidential bet Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.
Ang tinutukoy na ruling ay ipinonente ni Comelec Commissioner Aimee Ferolino. Binanggit sa nasabing desisyon na hindi nakagawa ng krimeng may kinalaman sa "moral turpitude" si Marcos nang mabigong maghain ng income tax returns noong 1982 hanggang 1985.
Nilinaw ng Comelec na "hindi likas na mali" ang pagkabigo ni Marcos na iharap ang kanyang ITR dahil sa kawalan umano ng batas na nagpaparusa nito.

Gayunman, binalaan ng TMAP ang publiko sa pagbibigay ng kahulugan sa nasabing desisyon at inihalimbawa nito angSection 255 National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.
"The Tax Management Association of the Philippines would like to clarify that, under the current rules... any person required to file ta returns but willfully fails to do so, shall upon, conviction, be punished by a fine of not less than P10,000 and imprisonment of not less than one year but not more than ten years, in addition to other penalties provided by law.Thus, all taxpayers, except those exempted by law from filing tax returns such as those earning purely compensation income qualified for substituted filing, as enjoined to faithfully comply with their tax filing obligations," ayon pa sa grupo.
