Isasagawa ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ang kauna-unahang Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) fluvial Parade of Stars na magtatampok sa ganda ng Pasig River ngayong taon kasunod ng pagbubukas ng mga sinehan at pagluwag ng quarantine restrictions sa Metro Manila.

Nakatakda ang fluvial parade sa Disyembre 19 kung saan magsisilbing floats ang ferry boats sakay ang mga celebrities ng official movie entries ng film festival ngayong 2021.

Sinabi ni Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos na ang fluvial parade ay kapalit ng tradisyunal na motorcade parade, na isa sa mga mahahalaga ng MMFF sa pagbabalik nito sa mga sinrhan para sa holidays.

“The fluvial parade will showcase the ferry service and at the same time encourage the public to ride the agency-operated Pasig River Ferry Service, an alternative transportation across Metro Manila,” sabi ni Abalos.

“Through this fluvial parade, we hope to encourage the public to ride the ferry service which sails from Pinagbuhatan in Pasig to Intramuros in Manila. This alternative transportation is traffic-free and you’ll get to appreciate the beauty of the river and the arts along the riverbanks,” dagdag pa niya. 

Magsisimula ang parada mula sa Guadalupe Ferry Station at didiretso sa eastbound patungong C-5 Bagong Ilog Bridge. Ito ay mag-U-turn, titigil sa Pasig City side, at diretso naman sa Makati Circuit na doon naman ang endpoint o magtatapos. Isang lane o linya sa J.P Rizal mula sa Guadalupe Ferry Station hanggang University of Makati ang magsisilbing drop-off point para sa mga panauhin at kalahok ng MMFF.

Noong 2020, isinagawa ng virtual ang MMFF Parade of Stars dahil sa COVID-19 restrictions.

Itatampok ng MMFF 2021 ang isang diverse line-up ng walong pelikula na buhat sa social drama, horror, action, suspense, romance, at comedy horror simula sa Araw ng Paskohanggang Enero 8, 2022.

Ang MMFF ay taunang kaganapan na pangunahing inorganisa na tutulong sa promosyon at mapagbuti ng preserbasyon,paglago at development ng mga lokal na pelikula.
