Nagkasundo ang Pilipinas at ang United Kingdom (UK) na ilunsad ang “enhanced partnership” sa kalakalan at pamumuhunan, teknolohiya, seguridad at depensa, at pagtugon sa coronavirus (COVID-19), bukod sa iba pa.

Sa isang tweet nitong Biyernes, ng gabi, sinabi ni British Liz Truss na nagkaroon siya ng “great meeting” kasama si Philippine Department of Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr.

“Great meeting @teddyboylocsin. The Philippines is an important partner, a country of over 100m (million) people and a major economy of the present and future,”tweet ni Truss kalakip ang watawat ng UK at ng Pilipinas.

“The Enhanced Partnership we agreed today will forge closer ties in Trade & Investment, Tech, [and] Security & [defense],” dagdag niya.

Sa kanyang sariling tweets, sinegundahan ni Locsin ang kanilang “productive meeting” at “deep discussions.”

“We agreed to launch the PH-UK Enhanced Partnership and work closer on defense cooperation, cyber security, green investments, and combatting COVID,” sabi ni Locsin.

“An enjoyable conversation; candid and hopeful for a significant British presence—not just Western but British—that will enhance Southeast Asian influence in world affairs,”dagdag niya.

Sinabi ni Locsin na personal niyang susundan ang mga development sa bagong British Ambassador to the Philippines na si Laure Beaufils.

“Every commitment I made I will personally follow up and report progress or lack of it to the UK ambassador,” ani Locsin.
